Featured Makers

Our new featured maker for February is Nicky Grace Vintage.

Photos and words by Louise Tyler

Based in North London, Nicky Grace has been sewing and hand crafting beautiful things from vintage fabrics  and trimmings since the mid 90’s when she was well and truly bitten by the handmade bug. Nickys’s work went on to be sold in Cath Kidston and has appeared in magazines such as Prima and Mollie Makes.

Nicky also regularly runs pop up shops from her lovely, inspiring home which  was featured heavily in the book “Pretty Pastel Style” by  well known author and top interior stylist Selina Lake and published by Ryland, Peters and Small. In fact, Selina lake did some book signings at a couple of Nicky’s pop up shops.

Nicky hand picks delicious combinations of delicate and nostalgic prints and patterns in the prettiest colours in her trademark romantic style to create a range of cushions, bunting and lavender bags. The  hand embroidered details add heartfelt messages of love and affection combined with the prettiest vintage trims  that elevate the finished item into  an heirloom piece,  be it as a keepsake or love token. Unashamedly floral and feminine, her  whole hearted love of vintage fabrics shines through her work.

We feel really lucky to have a range of Nicky’s pretty lavender bags at Margot  for a limited time this spring, beautifully made in an enticing selection of gorgeous fabrics with delicately hand stitched details, each one is totally unique and filled with the finest English Lavender. They make perfect Mothers day or Easter keepsake gifts.

Nicky sells her work in her popular Etsy Shop here Gorgeous Vintage by Nicky Grace.

and writes about her making and her pop up events on her blog here.
