July’s featured makers

In  what seems like the blink of an eye, we are packing away the work of our June featured makers and unpacking our new stock from our July featured makers. This bit is great fun as we don’t really know what we are going to get until we receive it, its a bit like Christmas!

First up is Jane Clucas,  Jane started her foray into vintage fabrics when she discovered charity shops at the age of 15! Her first collection of children’s clothes made from patchwork vintage fabrics was bought by Paul Smith and she continued to sell to stores such as Cath Kidston, Matches, The Conran Shop and Topshop. She also had a range in the Iena Boutique in Tokyo. Her latest obsession is with vintage pinnies and she has created a range of purses in the sweetest of designs, which will be available from Margot in July. Her passion for vintage fabrics remains undiminished and she spends a great deal of time finding exactly the right kind of textiles for her projects.

Margot loves her use of witty phrases which she sews on to her purses and bags, and the gorgeous vintage fabrics she selects. they are a bit different and we think they  make perfect gifts for busy ladies of all ages. We also have  Jane’s gorgeous vintage fabric packs with trims and pieces of lovely printed fabric which are great for crafty friends and some little cute animals perfect for those little people in your life. We feel honoured to be able to show Jane’s lovely work.

Our second featured maker is  Heather of Fledgling Crafts,

After graduating  Heather spent some time travelling the world. She then trained to be a primary school teacher and spent ten happy years teaching.  On becoming  a Mum She gave up formal work to be at home with her children, she says this was the best decision she ever made!  In 2012 ‘Fledgling Crafts’ became a hobby, making and selling products, from soft furnishings to small, handmade gifts and greetings cards.   Heather has been selling her products at various craft fairs in and around the local area and also in several shops.    She also started writing a blog (although this seems to be on hold at the moment!) and  opened an online Etsy shop. Heather says she

“is very excited to now be given the chance to be a part of the wonderful ‘Margot’ too. I am currently focusing on extending my Tinny Tinies range (little pets in tins with bedding and adoption certificate).  The range includes EleFriends, DinoSnores, Bedhead Bunnies, Chirpy Chicks, Cosy Cats and Love Cats.  These make versatile gifts.  They can be adopted and simply kept as a pocket companion or they can be used as a greetings gift. They work well as ‘Sorry You’re Poorly’ gifts but have also been sold as proposal pets where people have placed the ring on an EleFriend’s trunk or a LoveCat’s tail!”

Heathers products are currently on sale at ‘Mrs. Bramble and Friends’ (1 Portland Road, Worthing)  and in her Etsy shop www.etsy.com/uk/shop/fledglingcrafts .

You can follow her on www.facebook.com/fledglingcrafts or via her blog www.fledglingcrafts.com
