June’s Featured Makers.
At Margot, the start of each new month means that we receive new work to show from our allocated featured makers and with this in mind we would like to introduce you to our new makers for June. We are known for our love of textiles, vintage fabrics and pattern but we also love to show work by a variety of designers, artists etc. so first up for June is newly local artist and printmaker, Yves Preston.
Yves studied interior design in London. After graduating in 2015, she relocated to sunny Worthing. Yves loves all things handmade and hand crafted with a particular interest in printmaking and textiles. This led her to establish her small business called Hapticpress, specialising in hand carved and pressed block relief prints which she then uses on varied items, such as bags, cushions and brooches as well as a range of cards and original prints.
Yves sells her work on Etsy at https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/hapticpress and is looking forward to exploring a whole range of opportunities for showing her work in Worthing, Brighton and beyond. You can follow Hapticpress on Facebook here https://www.facebook.com/hapticpress and Instagram here https://www.instagram.com/hapticpress/.
Margot loves the deceptively simple imagery at play in Yves work and the decorative and varied surface qualities made by this traditional form of printmaking.
Our Second featured maker this month is Claire Wilson of Incey Wincey Studio.
Ex graduate Claire studied textile design at Winchester and after having her children ( her youngest is only 7 months old!) she has established a small business called Incey Wincey Studio. Claire combines a mixture of vintage furnishing fabrics and contemporary dress making cottons and Liberty prints with her trademark scandinavian influenced applique designs to provide a complimentary range of homewares, textile artwork and accessories, many of these combined and backed with 100% pure wool felt.
Claire makes custom made personalised banners and bunting to order as well as Happy birthday, special occasion bunting and a range of hand crafted gifts, at Margot we are delighted to show her rather famous retro owl cuddly cushion toys and a range of smaller accessories , such as wool felt brooches and bookmarks embellished with delicate liberty prints. Claire sells her work at various events around the area and recently was selected to sell her wares at an I Love Liberty event at Clothkits in Chichester.
