Featured Makers for May

April seemed to fly by so fast and here we are saying a sad goodbye to our first pair of featured makers and saying a big, smily hello to our second two.

Our  first new featured maker for May is  Julie Sayers who makes ladies and children’s clothing and accessories using her stash of vintage fabric. Under the brand name Vintage Attitude.

Julie is currently based in Colchester in Essex, where she sells her range locally in Revolver Retro Clothing, Colchester and The Minories Art Gallery shop, this  lovely shop  is full of work by local artists and makers and in particular graduates of Colchester Institute. Julie’s “nostalgia” girls dresses are on sale there. Julie will also taking part in their “Nothing New” event on May 30th. Last year at this event her dresses hung from the trees of The Minories garden……Julie is also hoping to be at Classic Car Boot Sale in London in October.

Margot loves Julie’s use of vintage pattern  combined with her whimsical applique touches using nostalgic characters from childhood such as The Wombles and Paddington Bear  . Each of Julie’s garments is unique and one of a kind due to the limited amounts of vintage fabric available.

you can follow  Vintage attitude on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/vintageattitude55 and on Twitter  @parkersthumb, read Julie’s blog https://vintageattiitude.wordpress.com/ and peruse her handmade wares on her Etsy shop herehttps://www.etsy.com/shop/Vintageattitude1

Natalia Parfoot is our second featured maker, Natalia is a locally based  jewellery maker  using a combination of semi precious, glass and crystal beads and wire to make a range of necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Here are some photos of Natalia’s work on display at Margot. She uses lots of different colour mixes  and varied materials including semi precious stones, glass and crystal  beads, she then  manipulates these into different  designs using frameworks of bronze, copper and silver wire to give each piece a sculpted, organic and unique feel.

Margot loves Natalia’s  intricate beaded cuffs in glowing bohemian colourways, perfect for summer at the  East beach.
